Artist's Statement:
My artwork interprets a variety of personal influences. The most
readily visible of these is my private orchid collection. Contemporary
design, pop culture, cartoons, nature, science, and philosophy have also
played a large role in my work.
Mother Nature offers me an unlimited source of inspiration as abstract
images and shapes create balanced and coherent compositions. Although
these compositions are abstracted enough to permit the viewer to imagine
their own meaning, I concentrate on ideas of communication, adaptation,
growth, and reproduction. Black outlines allow my design elements
become more connected. In dealing with color, my choices are made
symbolically to set moods or reference things or ideas not necessarily
represented in the imagery. And it's
all a visual diary on a philosophical level.
