CV
Alan’s
first photographic memory came foraging through dusty, old, cardboard
boxes hidden in dark corners of the family garage. Boxes filled with
images made by his father in what seemed like a previous life. Faded
black and white prints bringing to life the vision of a time gone by and
a life once lived: the City, ghettos, police actions, vistas, buildings,
grandparents, and a mom years before she was.
At age
sixteen, Alan’s keen eye and affinity for capturing insightful, dynamic
images was serendipitously discovered while on SCUBA at summer camp.
Then, when his path to the Physics Lab unexpectedly veered off course at
University, the enlightening and transformative power of photography was
realized. Still, it took four more years before his passion for the
medium became overwhelming and a journey toward a professional career
began…
Now,
guided by the mantra of “What’s not expected?” Alan focus on the
relationship between photographer, subject, and the energy created
through that experience. Interpreting the world through a unique filter
to create powerful lasting images that seek the underlying beauty within
and about life,
Alan’s
work has been recognized by the International Photo Awards, APA, ASMP,
American Photography, and The World Council for Arts and Culture. Prints
have been exhibited at the Thomas Werner Gallery in New York; Louis
Stern Fine Art, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Gallery 1988
in Los Angeles; and the Herbst International Exhibition Hall in San
Francisco.
Alan
currently resides in Los Angeles, California and loves to make
photographs.
