Martine L'Etoile BFA
Born: 1970, Los Angeles. School: The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Reside: New Hampshire. Artist Statement: Painting loosely with wax, creates a textured, unpredictable line. I work with it in large strokes suggesting just the shape of an object. The cooled wax leaves its own impression on the canvas. I sew into these wax layers and crevasses with thread, giving a torn and unraveling effect to the piece. Essentially, it is deconstructive work and has a lot to do with releasing attachments and finding memories.
