Artist’s
statement:
My
inspiration comes from my life experience, self intuition, and my body. I
present a series of documentary for my wearable sculpture. Through
enlarging part of my body, I express my awareness of the different
appearance from others in foreign culture. Identity, self consciousness,
and displacement are shown in my work.
By
using artificial material, I coagulate my emotion into objects. Black
vinyl tubing, this flexible sculpture creates various shapes as I move. I
interact with vinyl tubing which symbolizes I have a conversation with
myself. As reviewing this record of sculpture work, performing element is
shown in my still pictures which made the hair sculpture completed. By
bringing sculpture, performance, and photography into my work, I transform
my consciousness into visible self-examination.
