Mike Bell

After teaching & Lecturing in Art & Design for 30 years Mike took early retirement 10years ago to concentrate on his Painting .Since then he has exhibited in many Galleries including The Biscuit Factory ,Laing ,& Hatton in Newcastle and also at Artco Leeds.The Brownston Gallery Devon, John Green Glasgow .Scotlandart.com Edinburgh Gallery.Walker Gallery Harrogate,Untitled Gallery London,Artrom Gallery Rome, Marziart Gallerie Hamburg & Art Domain Gallery Leipzig where he won the Palm Art Award 2006.

Solo shows include The Coningsby Gallery London. & Calder Gallery Hebdon bridge.
His work was shown at Art Basel Miami 2006 by the NYArts magazine & in the American Juried Art Salon 2006 Winter & 2007 Spring Online Exhibitions where he became a Master Artist member.
This year he will also be exhibiting at AAF Bristol, Edinburgh Art Fair & Newcastle Art Fair,The Brownston Gallery Devon.The Biscuit Factory Newcastle, Museum of the Americas , Florida USA ,The Rhonda Schaller Studio ,New York & ArtExpo Las Vegas. Mike is a member of the Artrom Gallery Guild Of Artists & Designers in Rome. Last year he was commissioned by Wetherspoons Hotel chain for 2 large paintings for their new Hotel project in Darlington UK.

Mikes prints are published in Dallas ,Texas USA by Coupralux, & in Liverpool ,Uk by Indigo Arts Ltd
His work is mainly mixed media ,using many materials to create a strong textured surface on the canvas. His inspirations mainly come from the wild Northumbrian coast where he lived for 25years & now from the wild Borders region of hills lakes .dales & wild Moorland , Mike says “The land of Far horizons” Northumberland has light which enhances the tactile quality of the landscape no matter what the Season.
