Cherie Hanson

Cherie Hanson was juried into the City of Kelowna's Rotary Centre for the Arts as a resident artist in 2005. Her work has appeared throughout the Okanagan for seven years including juried shows
in the Kelowna Art Gallery and the Kamloops Art Gallery. Her images have been selected as book covers and CD covers. Recently,  Cherie has had work on display in Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton and will appear in the Florence, Italy Biennale of Contemporary Art in December. NY Arts Magazine selected
her as an artist to watch. In 2007, her work has been included in two public collections in Kelowna.

Perception is deception. I begin all of my work with a digital photograph and begin to work the image until it has little relationship to the original image. My belief is that all of us are grabbing on to our "visions" of the world and immediately begin to shift and change them to suit our own cosmology. We create the truth we live somewhere between the experience and the integration of the sensory messages. Most
of my images are bold and utilize color in a vibrant manner. However, the planes of "reality" shift as the
image is being viewed. I expect others to find discoveries in my work.
